Its role becomes more importants due to the rapid growth of cargo distribution, both domestic and export-import cargoes and also livestock transportation and embark/disembark of passanger as well, the wide range of port services not only supports the development of industrial estate and enhances trade circulation in its hinterland, but also encourages the growth of local people economic scale, particularly of those who live in port community and the people of west java. Port of Cirebon was established during Dutch Colonial Government in 1865 and in 1890 it was extensively developed to provide basin and warehouse. Port of Cirebon was continously developed to keep pace with rapid growth of investment on the establishment of sugas factory, cigarette factory of Bristish American Tobacco (BAT) and sugar cane factory that came up with incremental demand of port services. In 1927, Port of Cirebon was under the organization of Port of Semarang, but since 1957 it was under the organization of Port of Tanjung Priok, Jakarta. In accordance with the development of port management, Port of Cirebon become one of branch port of PT.(Persero) Pelabuhan Indonesia II. Port of Cirebon is located in Cirebon, Nort coast of West Java, approximately 250 kilometers eastward from Jakarta. Port of Cirebon geographical situation is at 06 42' 55.6'' South Latitude; 108 34' 13.98'' East Longitude. Port of Cirebon is easily accessibe by road from Jakarta, Central Jawa Province and Bandung City. This accessibility enables trade cargo distribution from and to port of Cirebon swiftly transported. The depth of channel is -7 meter LWS. The vessel that has draft beyond 7 meters can be handled in the anchorage area, 5 - 10 kilometers away of shore. PORT SERVICES The available facilities and equipment are to provide an array of port services comprising : - Coastal Radio Station; - Pilotage and tug services; - Basin and berthing; - Werehouse, Open Storage and Container Yard (CY); - Handling facilities(CY) for cargo and livestock; - Fresh water supply for vessel and for public consumption within the port; - Land for industrial estate, building and office space for public utilities; - Bulk terminal; - Liquid Asphalt terminal; - Vegetable Oil terminal; - Passanger terminal for embark/disembark of passanger; - Hospital, etc; In addition, Port of Cirebon has multiple opportunities for port-related business expansion, e.g. transportation services, information services, cargo distribution center, inland container depo etc. These business opportunities can be managed by the port itself or by the joint-venture agreement between the port and investors. Back to Top FRESH WATER SUPPLY The port is provided with fresh water supply to the vessel and to the office complex within port area. The Municipal Waterworks supplies this fresh water to the port with 20 liters/second or 72 tons/hour capacity. Width of port water : 8.410,91 ha Back to Top -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TERMINALS Coal Terminal This terminal was built for the handling of coal, with total area of 5 ha to accommodate approximately 50,000 tons of coal. The terminal serves coal handling and consolidation for industrial need in West Java. Most of coal is distributed to Kujang Cement factory in Cibinong, Bogor and Indocement Palimanan Cirebon. This terminal is provided with coal specially designed handling facilities: An unit wheel loader with 5 tons capacity, a weighting bridge 60 tons capacity (netto), and a screen 20 ton/hour capacity are availabled at stock pile. 2 units wheel loaders 5 tons capacity, an excavator 1 ton capacity and 6 units dump truck with 10 tons capacity are availabled at barge. Back to Top Asphalt Terminal This terminal was constructed on the area of 9,187 m2 . The terminal is operated in cooperation with PT. Jaya Trade Indonesia and PT. Karya Aspalindo has 6 units tank with an overall storage capacity of 11,300 tons to distribute to constructor companies, both private and government owned and local goverenment. Back to Top Vegetable Oil Terminal Port of Cirebon has 7 units vegetable oil tank with total storage capacity is 10,300 tons. Those tanks are located in line I area and operated in the cooperation with PT. Marga Tulus, PT. Inti Boga Sejahtera, PT. Smart Corporation and PT. Bukit Kapureksa on the 18,434.65 m2 wide area. And now is built PT. Sawit Tunggal Artha Raya on 5,775 m2 area and PT. Cahaya Ratu Berlian on 5,500 m2 area. Back to Top Passanger Terminal Passanger Terminal on Cirebon Port has 1,600 m2 wide area near by Muarajati I berth. There is a PELNI passanger ship that sails from CIREBON to PONTIANAK once on 2 weeks. Management of Cirebon Port is cooperated with Local Gonerment of West Java Province, Local Government of Cirebon City and other instance try to develop the port that is only one economical gateway in West Java Province to support container handling as starting point to go to World Class Full Container Port. The first step was making Port of Cirebon as feeder port for Singapore Port. For support the plan, Port of Cirebon has repaired some ways for Container truck Traffic. Container Yard (CY) for stacking Container was built on Port Working Area. For first step was availabled 4.000 m2 wide space and 10.700 m2 wide Container Freight Station (CFS). And to complete the facilities for container handling, Management of Cirebon Port have been cooperated with other instances. Port of Cirebon drafted a long-term development plan to further develop its role as economic gateway in the 21 st century. Those are Short Term (1995-2000), Middle Term (2000-2010), and Long Term (2010-2025) Development Plan. The objective of its development plan is to increase cargo distribution and upgrade port facilities in helping Port of Cirebon become a major center for sea tranportation to support industrial activities in West Java. Middle Term Development Plan (2000 2010) is made that comprises development of berth for container ship, berth of General Cargo Nusantara, General Cargo Samudra and also renovation of berth at Suryat Sumantri and Perniagaan pier. To backup berth utilities, it is also planned to build stacking yard of 59.800 m2. Dredging is continuously developed to maintain shipping lane along the channel and basin at the port. The arrangement of land within the port will be made to provide space for office center, dock, including the renovation of Port Hospital. Long Term Development Plan (2010-2025) will consists of breakwaters extension, renovation of berth for sailling vessel, developement of street, reclamation of basin to support sailing vessel pier and development of business center accupying 46,400 m2 of land. The developments of stacking yard for container is planned to accupy 18,600 m2 of land with total capacity of 700 teu's comprising stacking yard development at Linggarjati, Ex Widyatama Warehouse and Belawan street.
