"Jaco" is owner and time-charter owner of 7 dry-cargo vessels trading in the Baltic Sea, North Sea and the Mediterranean. All ship operation activities are performed by Norlat Shipping Ltd. As (Norlat), a company in the Th. Jacobsen group. The vessels, ranging from 3.000 dwt to 14.500 dwt in size, are mainly trading with logs and sawn timber. Other main types of cargo include fertilizer, grain, steel and general cargo. The Baltic Sea and the Russian inland waterways have traditionally been key areas of operation. "Norlat" is one of very few Western companies successfully operating on the Russian rivers. The majority of the vessels in the fleet, however, are sea-going ships trading world-wide. Over the past few years the management has worked actively with the Mediterranean region as well as with transatlantic operations. Th. Jacobsen & Co. The core activities include: Shipmanagement, Shipowning, Chartering & Shipbroking, Agency and Stevedoring/Warehousing. A staff of 16 motivated persons serves the company in the head office in Sarpsborg, and a further 20 professionals work in fully and partly owned subsidiaries in Norway, Latvia and Russia.
