Logistic Services Directed by the Vopak divisions Chemicals Logistics Europe & Africa and Logistics North America, the Business Unit Vopak Logistic Services provides a variety of land based logistic services in conjunction with Vopak s core tank storage offering. Services provided include warehousing, product handling, freight management and on-site logistics. In North America, rail car cleaning, rail car fleet management and waste disposal services are also provided. Vopak Logistics Asia has recently begun establishing land logistics services in Singapore, China, Taiwan and Australia, in response to the wishes of many large customers. In Europe, Vopak Logistic Services owns and operates approximately 140,000 square metres of specialized warehousing capacity with forwarding offices in five countries. Positioned within Logistics Services, Vopak Flow Management ( VFM ) specialises in optimising existing supply chains and in designing new ones for potential and existing customers. In addition, VFM provides ICT support in the field of B2B communications. VFM identifies and designs a growing number of supply chains for customers of Vopak Logistics. Company Profiles Vopak Barging Europe Vopak Barging Europe creates value for its customers by offering a highly sophisticated and diverse fleet of approximately 40 chemical barges. The very creative, flexible and efficient organisation offers its customers its know-how, combined with integrated safety systems, in order to optimise and guarantee the transport requirements of the customers. The extreme quick turnaround of the fleet within two/three days requires very good market- and productknowledge combined with innovative ideas and extensive logistic know-how. Thus, 6 million mtons of upto 350 different products are being handled for about 150 customers. Vopak Barging Europe in the Vopak Organisation: Vopak Barging Europe, with the office in Dordrecht, operates one of the largest and most sophisticated chemical fleets in Europe. Within the total global Vopak organization, Vopak Barging Europe represents a crucial link in the fully integrated terminal and transport services. Together with our coastal shipping, tank storage and distribution centers we are able to offer logistics solutions via one focal point. The barges of Vopak Barging Europe are a familiar sight in the seaports and on the European waterways. The Vopak logo on board the barges symbolizes safe practices, healthy working conditions, conservation of our environment and quality. Vopak Mineral Oil Barging As part of the division Vopak Oil Logistics Europe & Middle East, Vopak Mineral Oil Barging (Rotterdam/D sseldorf) has joined forces with Van der Sluijs Tankrederij. The joint venture company, Interstream Barging, operates an owned and long-term chartered fleet of approximately 50 barges from 400 up to 4,000 DWT handling the transport of mineral oils over the inland waterways of the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxemburg, France and Austria. The joint venture has full access to Vopak s network of tank terminals and a fleet of ocean-going and coastal tankers, covering most aspects of the logistics chain in the oil industry. Vopak Mineral Oil Barging Hamburg and Vopak Mineral Oil Barging Basle are both active in the field of tanker brokering as well as in the operation of its own barges. With a combined fleet of approximately 25 barges, they serve a wide range of customers and are able to fulfil the specific logistic demands that are needed for the North German rivers and canals and the Swiss market respectively. Interstream Barging In Interstream Barging, Van der Sluijs Tankrederij and Vopak Mineral Oil barging have combined their separate chartering activities. The result: one of the largest tanker charterers of mineral oils in Western Europe. The core activities of Interstream Barging are the supply of depots, inter-refinery transport and international transport. Operating from offices in Rotterdam, Geertruidenberg in the Netherlands and D sseldorf (Germany), the aim of Interstream Barging is to optimise the transportation of mineral oil products in a dynamic and international market. Interstream Barging is, of course, ISO-certified and all its barges (with a total capacity of approx. 100,000 tons) fully comply with the high statutory safety and environmental regulations. Vopak Vegoil Barging Inland barging facilities of the Business Unit "Vegoil Logistics" consist of a fleet of 17 barges from 500 up to 1,400 mt DWT carrying vegetable oils and fats and oleochemicals. The trading area spans the inland waterways of the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. The vegoil fleet is continuously upgraded to provide the best possible services, tailored to market demand. Within the Vopak Vegoil Logistics unit we have integrated all our storage and shipping services. Now located in one single office in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, our combined commercial and customer service organisations provide efficient and easy access to our comprehensive range of logistics services. Chemgas Shipping (Gases) Through Chemgas Shipping we own and operate about 25 inland gas barges, which are operated on the inland waterways of Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and France for serving the petrochemical - and oil Industry industry with transport of LPG and chemical gases. We furthermore provide direct transportation services in Europe between seaports and inland ports with five seagoing barges, with an average draft of 3.00 metres fully loaded. On the storage side, Vopak Terminal Vlissingen offers 130,000 cbm of storage capacity for LPG and chemical gases in refrigerated and pressurized tankage. It is the largest independent gas storage terminal in North-West Europe Tank Containers The transport of liquid chemicals in tank containers requires maximum flexibility combined with efficiency, speed and safety. Intermodal door-to-door transports by rail, truck or vessel can be arranged without any cargo transfer. Vopak is involved in tank container activities through VOTG Tanktainer GmbH, Hamburg (40%). VOTG Tanktainer GmbH VOTG Tanktainer is a joint venture between VTG-LEHNKERING AG (60%) and Royal Vopak (40%), With a very successful track record of 15 years in the isotank business, VOTG Tanktainer is well positioned to handle complex customer driven projects. Furthermore due to this joint venture a multitude of synergies is created and the supply chain has effectively been completed. Royal Vopak and VTG-LEHNKERING handle a wide range of liquid transport chains from tank terminals to tank trucks, rail cars and inland river barges up to deep sea vessels and the worldwide distribution of chemical products. VOTG Tanktainer GmbH, Hamburg has its backbone in European transport areas. However, with the establishment of an office in West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA in 1993 and one in Singapore (in Vopak s regional head office) in 1998 the growing importance of overseas business becomes evident. To this end, VOTG is making use of the Vopak network of tank storage and forwarding companies, which offers economies of scale in the areas of marketing and infrastructure. Tanker Shipping Short-sea and Deep-sea shipping General information Vopak is a leading company in chemical tanker shipping. We have a state-of-the-art fleet that meets the highest safety standards. A fleet of 24 coasters with stainless steel tanks provides European transport of high-quality chemicals. Through a strategic alliance with Brostr m Tankers, Vopak has access a fleet of some 65 tankers (including newbuildings under construction) for the transport of clean petroleum products in Europe and across the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. In addition, eight coastal tankers provide transport of liquid gases. Vopak offers fully integrated worldwide logistic services that suit the individual needs of customers. This logistics chain management includes a combination of short-sea and deep-sea shipping, tank storage and inland distribution, as required. About half the fleet is employed under long-term transport contracts thus increasing the stability of Vopak's position in the tanker market. Chemicals Logistics Europe & Africa Shipping activities within Chemicals Logistics Europe & Africa encompass the Vopak Essberger Chempool - a joint vessel operation between Vopak Chemical Tankers and John T. Essberger (Chemicals) , Chemgas Shipping (Gases) and a strategic alliance with Brostr m AB (Chemicals and clean petroleum products). Vopak Essberger Chempool (See also press release of 24-10-2003 on sale of chemical fleet) Vopak Chemical Tankers has a joint vessel operation and pooling agreement with John T. Essberger GmbH & Co., Hamburg (part of the Rantzau Group) called the Vopak Essberger Chempool. The jointly operated fleet consists of 24 vessels, all of which have 100% stainless steel tanks for transport of high-quality chemicals. The fleet has its trading area within the Baltic, the North Sea area and the Mediterranean. Vopak Chemical Tankers and Essberger operate from their respective offices in Dordrecht and Hamburg. Chartering and cargo/vessel allocation is closely coordinated between the offices. Chemgas has 34 deep sea, coastal and inland shipping gas tankers. The Chemgas fleet is trading in Europe. With a storage capacity of 130,000 cbm, the Chemgas gas storage terminal in Vlissingen, The Netherlands is the largest independent gas storage terminal in North-western Europe. Major products stored include liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and chemical gases such as propylene and butylene. Brostr m Brostr m has a high quality multipurpose fleet employed in the short-sea distribution of clean petroleum products and chemical products, such as methanol, MTBE, naphtha and other refined products. Brostr m is a major shareholder in Iver Ships, through which it is also active in worldwide deep-sea interregional distribution of methanol, MTBE and clean petroleum products. In the Atlantic area Iver Ships is market leader in methanol and MTBE transport with a market share of 70%. Brostr m operates a modern and state-of-the-art fleet of more than 60 vessels. The vessels are trading worldwide, with a focus on the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. In 2002 Vopak entered into a Strategic Alliance with Brostr m.
