"Seatrans" Ltd. furnishes various services connected with ships, cargoes and logistics. Within the scope of our duties we provide ship's agency to all kind of ships and forwarding of different cargoes. We can offer the commercial knowledge and personal contacts that we have developed with the local firms and authorities associated with the trade. Knowledge of the complex and changing conditions of the port is important for our clientele. We have the expertise for various types of cargo ships calling Ventspils port - such as oil and chemical product tankers, general cargo ships (timber, metals, etc) and bulkers (fertilizers, peat moss, etc). We also provide ships and ship owners with various related services such as: customs' clearances and immigration formalities, arrangement of shipchandler, bunkering, etc. Our objective is to offer a comprehensive service to ship-owners, operators, charterers and merchants plying their routes to Ventspils and we are always ready to meet the changing needs of our customers. We count among our regular customers many of the world's leading names in the industry such as: "Fortum Oil & Gas" Oy (Espoo) , "Yara Belgium" SA (Brussels) , former Hydro Belgium SA, "Ameropa" (Binningen) , "Alianca" (Rio de Janeiro) , "TTS UK" (Melton Mowbray) , "Wilson Eurocarriers" (Bergen) , "Bulk Chartering Services" (Hamburg), and many other companies. During the period of 2000 - 2003 we were the liner agent for the ferry line between Latvia and Sweden. The operator of the ferry line was "VV Line" which provided ferry service initially from Ventspils to Vastervik but since 2002 to port of Nynashamn. The route was serviced by ro-pax ferries "Mermaid II" and "Fellow" . We mainly forward peatmoss in bulk and on pallets, split or crashed stones in bulk and sawntimber in packs. Peatmoss in bulk and on pallets is exported mainly from local producers to Western European ports. While split or crashed stones are imported from Sweden, Finland and Lithuania. This cargo is required for construction of different objects (roads, groundwork, etc.) and is ordered both by Ventspils municipality enterprises and local companies. We can offer split of different fractions from granitestone, limestone and dolomite in all territory of Latvia. For example, granitestones are imported from the best quarries of Sweden and comply with all quality standards of Latvia. About Us | Ship's Agency | Cargo Forwarding | Our History | Links | Contacts Our History   ( LV ) "Seatrans" Ltd., Shipping Agency Company was founded in October, 1991 as the first private shipping agency company in Latvia after collapse of the Soviet Union. The company was founded by Mr. Janis Legzdinsh who was the managing director in the Soviet ship's agency "Inflot" . Most of our staff came from this former Soviet agency thus providing the necessary know-how. In 1994 we founded a branch in Liepaja port where it provided the services of ship's agency and cargo forwarding. The branch was closed at the end of 2003. In the same year "Seatrans" became a member of National Association of Latvian Ship's Brokers and Agents the president of which presently is also our founder Mr. Janis Legzdinsh. The association protects the interests of ship's agencies and brokers in different governmental and other institutions in Latvia. At the beginning the company's staff consisted of more that 20 people but by force of various circumstances the number of employees now has reduced to 7 persons. Since 1999 the managing director of "Seatrans" ltd. is Mr. Juris Legzdinsh - the son of Mr. Janis Legzdinsh.
