Vopak s storage capacity for vegoils ranges from Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden and Spain), the US, Brasil, Chile and Mexico to the Far East (China and Australia). A Single Source Solution Within Vopak Vegoil Logistics we have integrated our storage and barging services at one location: Vlaardingen. Here you have access to a storage terminal and inland tanker fleet dedicated to vegetable oils and fats and oleochemicals. And what s more: we offer the link to Vopak s ship agencies, coastal shipping, ware-housing, forwarding and distribution services. We can also provide full supply chain management. History barging The founders of the current Unilever concern, competitors Simon van den Bergh and Anton Jurgens, each had a successful butter manufacturing company in Oss. A large portion of their production in these days was exported to England. Both gentlemen shared the opinion that the supply of raw materials to their factories should be specialised and guaranteed. In 1918, they therefore started the "Algemeen Vrachtkantoor N.V." The goal was to operate an owner shipbroker and expedition company in the broadest sense. "Jurgens 2" and "Van Den Bergh III" were the names of the first barges. In 1927, Van den Bergh and Jurgens decided to merge their companies into one company named Margarine Unie and in 1930 that company merged with Lever Brothers from England: the creation of Unilever was a fact. From that moment, the "Algemeen Vrachtkantoor N.V." was a subsidiary of Unilever. The names of the barges were changed into "Unilever 2", "Unilever 3" etc. Safety, Health and Environment Mission Vopak aims to be perceived the most reliable, cost effective provider of bulk liquid logistics service solutions to the chemical and oil industry worldwide.
