The main activities of the shiprepairing department are as follows: repair of vessels of up to 25.000 DWT, conversions and modernization s, general repairs, repairs on hull construction, equipment and electronics, main and auxiliary engines, generators, electric motors, automation, etc.; quickunderwater hull inspection, hull, cleaning and corrosion protection; all kinds of measurements with analysis etc. Taking into consideration the forecasts on world shipbuilding and shiprepair tendencies, our shipyard is prepared and organized to perform quick and high quality repairs and retrofits on all kinds of seagoing vessels. There are two open slipways: one with a possibility to build newbuildings of up to 100 m in length and beam up to 20 m; another for vessels of up to 10.000 DWT, with Length up to 120 m and beam up to 21 m. Slipways are equipped with all necessary mechanical and electrical power supplies. The hulls of ships on slipways are erected by means of two gantry cranes of 150 kN and 250 kN lifting capacity, respectively. Section assembly takes place in the covered hall with the area of 2460 m2 equipped with three workshop overhead cranes with the lifting capacity of 300 kN each. Section and erecting of hulls can also be performed at a completely sheltered slipway, in the hall, for vessels with the length of up 60 m, beam up to 12 m. The slipway is assisted by two workshop overhead cranes of 100 kN. A system for section transportation allows two vessels to be built simultaneously and launched one after the other on the same slipway. A shiprepairing quay of 575 meters in length, lying within the shipyard area, and having an average sea depth of 6 - 8 meters at pier, is assisted by two gantry cranes of 320 kN and one of 80 kN lifting capacity at the south quay, and one of 100 kN at the north quay. There are also two floating docks. The greater one (with autonomous supplies) of 8.500 tons lifting capacity, length over all 155 m, effective breadth 23, 4 m, maximal draught 6, 70 m, (equipped with two cranes of SO kN). The smaller one (with shore-assisted supplies) is of 1.100 tons lifting capacity, effective breadth 12.8 m, maximal draught 3.5 m. All berths and docks are provided with all necessary energetic installations: compressed air, fresh water, sea water, fire line, telephone, electricity, oxygen and acetylene. The department has a floating crane of 70 kN lifting capacity. Floating cranes of 600 kN and 1000 kN lifting capacity are available upon request. The same applies to harbour tugs and a specialized vessel for oily and bilge water collection. There are well equipped workshops for steel cutting, forming and machining as well as electrician's, carpenter's, plumber's, pipefitter's and other workshops. The Kraljevica Shipyard has its own hotel for crew, worker and guest accommodation. The Shipyard maintains good relationships with all the world's leading classification societies such as: Lloyd Register of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, Det Norske Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping, etc. which all have representatives in the Republic of Croatia or are represented by the Croatian Register of Shipping. The main advantages of this repair center are as follows: availability of service representatives of the world's follows equipment producers such as MTU, Caterpillar, MAN-BMW, Sulzer, Pielstick, Hatlapa, Alpha-Laval, Norcontrol, Atlas Copco, Reintjies, Siemens, etc. and our location in a well developed industrial area with a good communication network towards all European industrial centers, especially the north Italy and the south Austria. Shipyard Kraljevica has proved itself as a very convenient place for building new vessels and repairing the existing ones.
