Organisation The ShortSeaShipping Promotion Center is operated by the Verein zur Forderung des Kurzstreckenseeverkehrs e.V.. It is a public private partnership of the German Ministry of Transport, the federal states of Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein as well as short sea carriers, forwarders, terminals, ports, shipbrokers and the inland navigation association. Our organisation was founded on the 9th of May 2001. Operational work started on the 2nd of July 2001 in offices at the German Ministry of Transport in Bonn. Target groups Shipping industry Forwarders and transport companies Logistics provider Targets Our aim is to promote a stronger use of intra European short sea shipping as well as inland waterways and to assist industry, trade and forwarders in their specific transport requirements. Together with shippers and logistics providers we create intermodal concepts including transportation via waterways. In accordance with our statute we operate absolutely neutral regarding companies and ports.
