It was then known as Northsouth Shipmanagement Pte Ltd with Sembawang Johnson Shipmanagament Pte Ltd as partner owning 50% of the company. The Company had 3 vessels under technical management whereas the other shipmanagement functions were provided by her partner. In September 1988, Belships ASA bought over the company and Northsouth Shipmanagement Pte Ltd became 100% owned by Belships ASA providing full range of shipmanagement activities, newbuilding supervision, project consultancy and agency for vessels calling Singapore. From then onwards the fleet expanded rapidly. In June 1999, amongst other offers, IUM Shipmanagement AS bought 50% stake in Northsouth Shipmanagement Pte Ltd with an aim to expand into the 3rd party ship management market operating out of Singapore.The Company s name was changed to IUM Singapore Pte Ltd. In September 2000, Belships ASA bought back the shares and became 100% owner of the company and company s name was renamed to Belships Management (Singapore) Pte Ltd. From 1983 till date, the Company has managed more than 80 ships in total.
