Cool Carriers and Lauritzen Reefers join forces: Two of the biggest names in reefer shipping have joined up to corner the global fruit market. The merger of the commercial operations of the two companies will create the world's leading operator of reefer vessels under the name Lauritzen Cool. Lauritzen Cool will attempt to build on the success that Cool Carriers has within the banana transportation - representing the reefer markets single most important cargo base - as well as its strong platform within the liner and COA trades, which connect the main fruit exporting countries of Chile, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia with important consumer markets in Europe, North America and the Far East. The Lauritzen Cool fleet contains 90 modern reefer vessels, giving a total carrying capacity of 52 million cubic feet below deck, and an on deck capacity for additional refrigerated containers. LauritzenCool can be characterised as the strongest brand name within the global reefer market.
