Charities Although the Skeeter Owner’s Tournament was not originally established as a means to fund regional and national youth and marine enhancement organizations, it only seems fitting the Owner’s Tournament become the vehicle for our yearly support of selected organizations. Over the years Skeeter has always corporately supported many charitable groups through event participation, monetary donations, and our own Scholars Program for children of Skeeter Owners. Last year Skeeter held a Silent Auction at the Lake Fork tournament, which raised $10,000 that went to four worthy causes. For the 2006 Silent Auction, Skeeter’s goal is to raise $15,000, which will be donated entirely to the four recipients listed below. This system eliminates virtually all stress on the transom, deck and hull sides of the boat. The vertical torque force of the engine is transformed into a lateral horizontal force distributed throughout the bottom of the boat, providing lift along the entire keel. The strength of Skeeter’s transom can’t be overstated! A Skeeter boat can be suspended by the engine bolts with no loss of hull integrity. This ability is unmatched by any other boat maker, and the resulting longevity of the Skeeter bass boat is ample proof of its truly revolutionary design. Aluminum Deck Grid System Because of the precise, tight tolerances permitted through the state of the art CAD-CAM design of the ZX and TZX decks, Skeeter can utilize deck construction techniques that others cannot. One example of this type of construction is our exclusive Aluminum Deck Grid System. This system uses aluminum as a structural member of the deck, provides superior support and strength, and allows lids that close tightly and lock securely. Fiberglass boats produced with less precision than Skeeter are unable to realize the advantages of this type of construction. CAD-CAM and CNC Mold Construction Proper boat handling and overall performance demands a symmetrical hull; that is, a hull that is straight and true from one side to the other. Skeeter achieves this using state-of-the-art CAD-CAM design elements to produce boats with very tight tolerances. Once the design is realized in the computer, it is checked for accuracy, then digitized and sent to a 5-axis CNC milling machine, which machines the design fullscale with incredible precision. Bottom line: every Skeeter that comes off the production line is perfect in form. Composite One-Piece Floor The floor of the Skeeter ZX and TZX is one, solid piece. It is composed of a PVC crosslinked foam, sandwiched between layers of fiberglass. Because it is one piece, it provides strength to an already strong hull. EX-Cel Composites, for the Industry's Strongest Hull Skeeter was the first bass boat manufacturer to use composite construction in the primary structural members of the boat. The transom, stringers, and floor utilize aerospace derivatives known as EX-Cel composites in their construction, which provide much better properties when combined with fiberglass than the common plastics used by other builders. EX-Cel composites is a system of materials, that when combined, yield a tough, strong product. A Skeeter boat is built to last! For years, Skeeter has been building the toughest, strongest boats possible using a select variety of fiberglass materials. Bi-axial, woven, combination mat and continuous strand are just some of the types used, all bonded together by an isothalic resin that has a high HDT (heat distortion temperature), which gives a good finish, and adds strength and toughness to the gelcoat. The gelcoat used on all Skeeter boats is a product called Armorcoat, and is considered the best in the industry in resisting weathering and blistering. The polyflake finishes are applied using an exclusive “dry flake” system, which means the flake and clearcoat are not mixed together and sprayed at the same time. This method allows the flake to be sprayed behind the clearcoat, instead of being mixed with it, which results in very consistent layers of clear and flake, and a lustrous, durable finish. NMMA Certified The NMMA Certified label on a SKEETER boat lets you know it was built to meet and often exceed, strict quality and safety standards established by the U.S. Coast Guard and the American Boat & Yacht Council. These standards include 31 categories covering electrical systems, powering, flotation, fuel systems and navigation lights. Certified boats must also pass rigorous annual inspections from independent third-party inspectors. As a result, U.S. Coast Guard statistics show NMMA Certified boats have been shown to be safer than non-certified boats. Stern Sponsons The Stern Sponsons provide additional buoyancy aft of the engine mounting surface which allows a level resting position. Because the boat is floating level at rest and the lift created while getting on plane, hole time shots are greatly improved. The additional buoyancy raises the aft of the boat faster reducing the amount of backwash which negates the need for a splashwell. When fishing, a fisherman needs to be able to move about without causing the boat to pitch and sway from the change in weight and balance. One of the many purposes of the sponsons is that they act as pontoons on either side of the aft of the boat, preventing extreme side-to-side motions; in fact, they keep the platform of the boat so stable that a man can step from one side of the rear fishing platform to the other without any noticeable rocking of the boat. Turning Chines The turning chines are located on each side, at the rear of the hull where the running surface meets the side of the boat. The angle of the chine in relation to the bottom of the hull provides the required lift, and acts as a rail, gripping the water during a turn. The geometry of these appendages limits the amount of heel the boat will experience during mid- to high-speed turns. Two Tournament Livewells SKEETER engineers are serious anglers, just like you. And like you, they can’t stand to lose a fish before weigh in—so they went the extra mile and funded a study at the University of Texas at Arlington to see how various livewells measured up, and what changes were needed to ensure a healthy catch. The scientists at UTA designed an ideal system that replicated the important aspects of the natural environment of a bass, and Skeeter has implemented those changes into a livewell system that works. The result? Not one dual-pump, 24-gallon livewell, but two completely independent systems! The scientists at UTA discovered that a fish instinctively thinks it can swim where it senses water flow, and would hurt itself ramming into the bulkhead if a baffle between tanks allowed water movement across the tanks. Our livewells are deep, allowing bass to stack above each other as they do instinctively in nature. A grey, matte finish inside reflects just enough light to keep the fish calm when the hatch is opened. We also include a pump out system that allows for easy removal of your catch. In the event that a fish does jump, Skeeter designed the livewell doors to hinge on the outside and open from the inside of the boat to the exterior, so that the door will block the fish from reaching open water. The optional Oxymax Tournament Livewell System, exclusive to SKEETER, uses a tiny electrical charge to separate the hydrogen and oxygen molecules adding 100% pure oxygen to the water. Yamaha VMAX HPDI Ourboard Engines The VMAX outboards deliver more power, control, and fueleconomy than any two-stroke ever made. Six sensors help optimize ignition timing and air/fuel mixture. Proven and reliable internal-opening fuel injectors distribute fuel to reach each cylinder, enhancing fuel distribution for increased power and greater fuel economy. The water inlets have been frontmounted and lowered on the 300, 250 and 225 hp models for increased cooling, efficiency, and optimal set up. Much stronger pistons forged from aluminum alloys add durability to an engine that’s already the toughest on the market. And, in keeping with YAMAHA’s philosophy of developing cleaner technology, Yamaha’s HPDI engines exceed the Federal EPA 2006 emission requirements, and have earned a California C.A.R.B. two-star rating for very low emissions. The 300 HPDI brings added quickness to the SKEETER ZX300 and ZX250, delivering 1,000 psi High Pressure Direct Injection and acceleration with a top end speed that, until now, you could only experience in your dreams. If you’re going to outwit those trophy bass, you’ve got to think fast. Yamaha and SKEETER... built to go the distance –quickly! Web Design 2003 Skeeterboats.com .
