The RFA is a civilian manned fleet of 22 ships owned and operated by the Ministry of Defence, the purpose of which is to supply the Royal Navy's warships at sea with fuel, stores and ammunition. The RFA also provides aviation support for the Royal Navy and amphibious support and transport for Army units/equipment. In addition to Merchant Navy training, cadets and officers are expected to undergo many Royal Navy training courses. Applicants must be British.
