The ship management companies under the umbrella of the Schulte Group are not only in compliance with the complex regulations and demands, but they have developed »quality management«, IT and reporting systems to stay ahead of the game. Hanseatic www.hanseaticshipping.com Hanseatic was founded in 1972, initially to cater for the needs of its shareholders. Hanseatic started offering crew management services, which soon evolved into providing both full and technical management. The full scale of its activities has been built up over the years on the basis of the market development and the requirements of its Owner clients and the changes in the shipping environment. Being the first offshore Ship Management Company on the island, Hanseatic has been instrumental in helping Cyprus become the biggest ship management centre in the world. Since the very beginning the focus was on the quality of the people supplied to the ships. For this very reason, Hanseatic Marine Training School was founded in Limassol in 1983. Training establishments in the last few years have expanded in all areas where the Schulte Group recruits its seamen. Marine Training Limassol > Manila > Mumbai > Gdynia Of paramount importance, the training of seafarers is fully recognized by the Schulte Group. We are constantly investing in upgrading and expanding our training capability, currently comprising of the following facilities: In Limassol Cyprus, we own the Hanseatic Marine Training School (HMTS), founded in 1983. HMTS is an IMO approved maritime training centre operating under the auspices of the Cyprus Administration and is also recognized by many leading Flag State authorities. The centre provides training for ratings and junior officers employed on Cyprus and foreign flagships. In addition to the amended International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers, HMTS carries out specialized training and up-grading courses for a number of leading international shipping and offshore companies. In 1998 HMTS won the Lloyd's List Youth & Training Award for its outstanding and consistent contribution to maritime training. HMTS has a capacity for seventy live-in trainees, and comprises deck, engine and catering departments. The school is well equipped with practical and theoretical training material, including a computer laboratory, a comprehensive audio-visual library, computer based training aids including bridgeteam and resource management and a cargo simulator program. In Manila we have our own in-house training centres offering short, topic specific courses that are not generally available at other training centres. Many of these courses were developed and are being continuously revised based on feedback from our clients, thereby ensuring the superior performance of our seafarers once onboard. We have 3 fully equipped classrooms and 3 full time instructors, a Master Mariner who conducts courses on vetting inspection, ISM-related topics and maintenance of safety equipment, chart correcting, disciplinary procedures and SSO duties. A Chief Engineer conducts courses on safe bunkering practices, general responsibilities of engine watch keepers, marine lubrication & marine cooling systems. Our computer classroom is fully equipped to offer courses ranging from the use of Windows, Word & Excel as well as client specific software through to network applications and finally, the use of computer peripherals such as scanners and digital cameras. Courses are free to all Schulte Group seafarers. In Mumbai the Eurasia Centre for Advanced Learning (ECAL) which was inaugurated on 22 October 2004 has been set up simply to make better people out of the seafarers that serve our customers, by instilling in them the values of loyalty, integrity and professionalism in addition to imparting advanced technical know how. ECAL is a concept in itself that combines traditional values with state of the art techniques producing exceptional people. As the fleet diversity, complexity and size increased, the crew training had to go hand in hand to enhance service delivery to customers. This was the guiding factor behind the decision to go for the most advanced simulation in the market. The incorporation of the latest technological achievements in the modelling techniques in the simulators will make available to Schulte Group seafarers new highly specialised training tasks, such as mooring and towing, pilot operations, entering and leaving docks, oil spill response and search and rescue operations. In Gdynia Poland, we established a training school in 2000. This now undertakes LPG and LNG courses, cargo simulation training, steam training (approved by the Polish Administration), safety equipment courses and English language training. Additionally, we invested in the construction of a 12m model LNG vessel, the Dorchester Lady , for use in the shiphandling facility at Llawa. We have furthermore allocated substantial resources to marine training at each of our key fully owned recruitment centres. Such resources include qualified training personnel, purpose built classrooms, modern computer equipment, specialised software such as Seafarers' Evaluation Training System (SETS), computer based navigation, communication and machinery equipment simulators, English language training and testing facilities, marine-catering facilities etc. Schulte Group Business Lines / Liner Operation Liner Shipping In a world of globalized industrial production and consumer goods transport container liner transportation is the blood in the veins of the global economy. It procures the working of intermodal supply chains via the sea worldwide, without which the constant growth of the world economy would not be possible.
